TRUMPF Inc. released a new laser cutter that provides 24 kW of power, double that which was previously offered. The TRUMPF TruLaser 5000 series laser cutting machine is now available in North America and can be outfitted with a a TruDisk 24001, a highly versatile laser with an output of 24 kW. The new laser cuts sheet metal parts up to three times faster than a 12-kW laser.
When the TruLaser 5000 is upgraded with 24 kW, users can achieve up to an 80 percent higher productivity rate, depending on the material and application. When using the 24-kW laser, users can also avoid the formation of the oxide layer on cut edges typically associated with oxygen that is added to the assist gas when using lower power levels. Essentially, there is limited need for reworking since the 24-kW TruLaser 5000 can handle sheet thicknesses up to 1 in. while using nitrogen as the assist gas.
TruLaser 5000 Advantages:
- With 24 kW of cutting power, the quality of cut parts, especially in medium and high sheet thicknesses, improves.
- Boosted productivity comes in part due to a patented cutting unit, automated functions and dynamic performance.
- Users can cut up to 2-in. stainless and mild steel with less burr and limited to zero need for reworking.
- The TruDisk 24001 delivers high part quality and seamless part removal as well as incredibly fast cutting, especially in thin materials.
