Whirlpool Corp. is making a $300 million investment in U.S. laundry operations, creating 400 to 600 new jobs. The production ramp up will occur in two Ohio facilities in Clyde and Marion. This positions the company to increase next-generation washer and dryer production but also support approximately 5,000 additional jobs outside the company. Marc Bitzer, Whirlpool’s chairman and CEO, said the investment “underscores our dedication to creating jobs, fostering innovation and delivering high-quality, American-made appliances to U.S. consumers.” The Clyde facility has been in operation since 1952 and the Marion factory celebrated its 70th anniversary in September.
