School accepts grant for welding expansion

The Pennsylvania College of Technology is accepting a $2 million grant from the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The grant requires a cash match of $3 million from the college to expand its welding facility by 22,000 sq. ft. According to Davie Jane Gilmour, president of the college, welding continues to take off as one of the most popular majors and at times there are more than 40 students on the waiting list for welding. The expansion will double the size of the facility and 50 more students will be able to participate each year.
