Northern Tool + Equipment teamed up with NASCAR legend Richard Petty and celebrity motorcycle builder Billy Lane as they play celebrity mentors in a first-of-its-kind rat rod go-kart buildoff between two Minnesota high schools. The two high schools will spend the 2023-2024 school year constructing rat rod go-karts using Northern Tool + Equipment’s new 740cc NorthStar EFI engines under the watchful eye of Petty and Lane. The build-off is part of Northern Tool + Equipment’s Tools for the Trades program. Each school’s career and technical education program will also receive a donation of professional-grade tools and equipment, including air compressors and air-powered tools donated by Ingersoll Rand.
