The National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) developed a new approach to help employers struggling with on-the-job training. It’s a five-step method that is described in a video. Step 1 introduces smart training principles. Step 2 includes a quick online self-evaluation assessment about training behaviors. Step 3 is where trainers participate in a session with a NIMS expert regarding the assessment results. Step 4 is where the details of the organization’s training program are developed on-site. Finally, Step 5 ensures that stakeholders in the program are acknowledged for reaching performance goals.
