ESAB Flexible Plasma Cutting

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products introduces its A-Series air-plasma systems for automated and mechanized cutting. The units provide an 80 percent duty cycle and production cutting and piercing capacities ranging from 1/4 in. to 5/8 in. They feature a CNC interface connection that offers “start/stop,” “OK to move” and divided arc voltage signals. The systems can be switched between automated and manual by connecting an SL60 or SL100 manual 1Torch, enabling fabricators to use a single plasma system for shop and field work or to manually cut parts.

Submerged Arc Portable Welding from Miller

Miller Electric Mfg. Co. introduces the SubArc Portable Welding System, a self-contained, ready-to-weld machine. It’s built to provide flexibility in submerged arc welding (SAW) applications by containing the power source, column and boom on a mobile platform. With built-in fork pockets and caster wheels, the system provides mobility options to move the entire system to the workpiece. It accommodates workpieces of various heights and sizes. The new product is for use with SubArc Digital Series power sources from Miller.

Select-Arc Electrode for Hardsurfacing

Select-Arc Inc. releases a martensitic-alloy electrode designed as an all-purpose choice for general welding maintenance. SelectWear 58 is a metal-to-earth wear welding wire that can be put down in multiple layers without cracking. Offered in gas-shielded or open-arc versions, it combines high hardness with good balance between abrasion and impact resistance. Available in diameters from 0.035 in. to 1/8 in., the products are used in hardsurfacing applications such as agricultural tillage tools, chisel plows, dredge components, earthmoving bucket lips and pipe hardbanding.

Stoody Expands Extreme Wear Line

Stoody, an ESAB brand, added nickel-based, tungsten-carbide consumables to its product line, including several new wire formulations as well as new PTA and laser cladding powder families. These products are used to restore damaged components and to overlay parts to extend serviceable life. The new nickel-based tungsten carbide wire products come in diameters ranging from 1/16 in. to 3/32 in. and come spooled on 33-lb. wire baskets or in 50-lb. polypacks. The PTA and laser cladding powders come bottled in 10-lb. increments.

FIPA’s Bellows Suction Cups

FIPA Inc. offers VarioFlex bellows suction cups for material handling and packaging automation applications. The SP-BX1 cups are for diameters from 16 mm to 160 mm and SP-BX2 cups are for diameters from 16 mm to 77 mm. The cups are made of oil-, ozone- and wear-resistant polyurethane-composite material. They feature a dimensionally stable body that prevents buckling over a range of shear forces and a low-marking sealing lip for seals on surfaces ranging from oil-free metal sheets to hot injection-molded plastics, and even rough or uneven surfaces.

Hypertherm Accepting Freedom 38 PPA Orders

Hypertherm is accepting orders for its recently released Freedom 38 PPA, an all-in-one unit combining plasma, power and air for cutting in areas without access to electricity. It combines a Powermax 125 plasma system with a 38-kW generator and air compressor. Advantages include the elimination of costs from renting and transporting flammable gas cylinders. Cut capacity is 1 1/2 in. at a speed of 18 ipm and 1 3/4 in. at a speed of 10 ipm.
