The Discovery ’26 technology showcase at Mazak Optonics’ North America Laser Technology Center, in Elgin, Ill., June 16-18, highlighted the company’s new affiliate brand of laser cutting solutions, Optonics. The new line offers affordable, proven laser cutting technology to a broader range of fabricators. “A huge differentiator for Optonics over other lower cost brands is that the customer gets to buy into the Mazak framework that supports the technology and offers a structured service program,” commented Al Bohlen, president of Mazak Optonics. The first Optonics machines available are the Lz 3015A, with 6-kW or 12-kW of power and maximum cutting area of 5 ft. by 10 ft., and the Lz
6025A, with 12-W or 20-kW of power and maximum cutting area of 8 ft. by 20 ft. Guests also experienced the latest innovations in laser cutting technology with live equipment demonstrations, and had a chance to connect with Mazak personnel to discuss their unique production requirements. Live demos included the high-productivity Optiplex HP with laser power up to 30 kW and FT-250 multi-axis tube laser.
