New modeling technology for sheet metal applications from Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence enables the “flattening” of 3-D models in preparation for manufacturing. Hexagon’s Radan software for sheet metal production now includes a direct link to its direct modeling software, which makes it possible to validate models virtually for optimal production. The modeling capabilities predict material behavior during bending operations, eliminating trial and error. Unique to the modeling software is its ability to account for bending tool geometry when highlighting model modifications in response to production processes.
