Coherent Corp. named Julie Sheridan Eng chief technology officer. Previously, Eng ran the Optoelectronic Devices and Modules business unit where she oversaw engineering, product management and operations for GaAs verticalcavity surface-emitting lasers, InP directly modulated lasers and detectors, and CMOS/BiCMOS integrated circuits for datacom, 3-D sensing and high-volume consumer applications. Prior to Coherent, Eng held a number of senior management positions at Finisar Corp. Over the 15 years that she managed datacom and transceiver engineering, her teams released more than 180 fiber optic transceiver products. Eng has published more than a dozen papers and holds six U.S. patents.
