Archer Wire International Corp. installed a 300-ton Aida DSF-N2-3000AB direct-drive servo press line at its Bedford Park, Ill. facility, to help increase per-job efficiency by approximately 50 percent. The larger bed size of the new press allows each appliance component to be completed in a single stamping operation, eliminating the bottlenecks created by multiple operations on the company’s previous 200-ton mechanical press. The line includes a 10,000-lb. capacity servo feed and an automated robotic transfer system that can be taken offline when running a progressive die. The servo press line has the ability to modify the motion profile at any point throughout the stroke. This improves part quality because the press can be slowed through critical forming stages.
