The new CLX fiber laser cutting system from Cincinnati Inc. (CI) was designed for the next generation of laser users as well as long-time laser experts. With what CI describes as “an intentional combination of senior and junior staff,” the design and development team behind the CLX created a machine “with that beloved CI toughness and 50 percent less frame weight.”
The new fiber laser system is available in two table sizes, 3 m by 1.5 m and 2 m by 4 m, and in power levels between 5 kW and 15 kW. The CLX features dual 22-in. touchscreen monitors that allow operators to access machine controls while switching between four interior cameras with different aspect ratios. It also features an nLight 15-kW Corona laser with predictive machine health technology. Beckhoff helped with IoT integration, remote communication with the machine and useful software help tools. Laser Mechanisms’ software package allows tracking the head in real time, right on the screen for the operator to see if something was compromised in the cutting process.
CLX Advantages:
- Users benefit from its clean whiteboard design, developed in a collaborative environment.
- A brand-new drive system helps users leverage the higher power levels available within the CLX.
- Automation integration gives users the ability to make parts in a lights-out environment, boosting throughput without the need for hiring an extra shift.
- Designed for new and experienced users alike, the CLX is easy to learn with a user-friendly HMI control and dual-screen Windows-based operation.
- With reliability being a top priority, CI specifically designed the new system with serviceability in mind.
